The Des Moines Golf & Country Club is a prominent golf and country club located in West Des Moines, Iowa. The Des Moines Golf & Country Club was founded in 1897 and has since grown into one of the premier golf and social clubs in the region. The Club was established to provide a private, upscale environment for golf enthusiasts and their families. The Club is renowned for its two-championship golf courses, the South Course and North Course, each with its own unique and demanding layouts.

The Assistant Superintendent aids the Golf Course Superintendent and the Director of Grounds in the leadership and execution of work schedules, maintenance programs and construction details. This person also helps direct the crew on the 18 holes that they are responsible for.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in planning daily work schedules.
• Assists and manages the hiring and training of employees.
• Supervises employees on a daily basis.
• Assists in supervision of various construction projects.
• Applies fertilizers and pesticides as needed.
• Helps prepare the course setup for daily play.
• Assists in snow removal.
• Sets good examples for others to follow in job performance, work safety, equipment care, attendance and striving for efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's, Associate Degree, or Certificate in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant/Turf Science or related field of study preferred.

Experience Requirements

• 1 - 2 years working on a golf course or similar field.
• Knowledge of golf maintenance practices
• Must demonstrate initiative and moral character.
• Strong work ethic and personal commitment to improving/maintaining course conditions.

Special Requirements

• Must have or be able to obtain a current Iowa Driver's License.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Iowa Pesticide Applicator's Certificate.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes some overtime, weekends and some holidays.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs

West Grand Golf Driving Range & Miniature Golf, located in West Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Driving Range/Miniature Golf Turf/Maintenance Position to maintain our driving range/miniature golf facility. Looking for a person with hands-on experience in turf maintenance, irrigation, and equipment care.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience:

• Prior golf course maintenance experience preferred but not required.

Skills & Responsibilities:

• Maintain the driving range/miniature golf.
• Oversee daily maintenance operations, including mowing, watering, and landscaping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervisory Duties: Overseeing staff, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance.
• Project Management: Leading and managing projects, including construction, renovations, and improvements.
• Staff Development: Providing training and mentorship to staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed for their roles.
• Vendor Coordination: Working with vendors to obtain supplies and services.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensuring all staff and operations adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
• Communication: Maintaining open communication with staff, members, and other departments.

Required Qualifications:

• Industry experience of at least (5) years
• Strong understanding of golf course maintenance principles, including turfgrass management, irrigation, and chemical applications.

• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of golf course equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Pesticide applicator's license may be required.

Compensation:

• Salary commensurate with experience in a range of $45,000 - $55,000
